Hilary Kaiser

Hilary Kaiser is a history buff and an oral historian who knows how to use interviews to tell a good story and give new perspective on the French-American experience. She is the author of French War Brides in America and Veteran Recall: Americans in France Remember the War — both of which also exist in French — as well as the e-book and paperback WWII Voices: American GI’s and the French Women Who Married Them.

A dual American- French national, she is a graduate of San Francisco State University and the Sorbonne, where she earned her Ph.D. and where she held a position as a tenured associate professor of American culture and intercultural communication. She has appeared on French radio and television shows, been interviewed in the French press, and has lectured on her research in both France and the United States. An engaging speaker and presenter, she currently divides her time between Paris and Berkeley, working as a freelance storyteller and an intercultural trainer and writing a new book.
